This message has been sent to notify you of an unplanned, emergency network maintenance that will occur today, June 26th.

This maintenance will affect all servers at our Amsterdam location only. The total downtime is expected to range between a couple seconds to few minutes. This maintenance will begin as soon as possible.

The purpose of this maintenance is to resolve a link flapping problem between our upstream provider's network equipment and ours. This problem can cause routes to be withdrawn and/or a temporary loss of network connectivity. It must be resolved to ensure the stability of our network. This problem can be caused by a switch port, transceiver, switch or fiber that has become partially defective. This problem very rarely occur.

This maintenance will be carried in 3 separate steps, where each step is conditional to the previous one not resolving the problem.

Step 1 : An on-site technician will move the fiber connecting our network equipment to the network equipment of our upstream provider, Psychz Networks, to a different switch port / transceiver of the switch on Psychz Networks' side. Psychz Networks' network administrators will then do the necessary configuration changes.

Step 2 : An on-site technician will move the fiber connecting our network equipment to the network equipment of our upstream provider, Psychz Networks, to a different switch port / transceiver of the switch on our side. The on-site technician will simultaneously submit the appropriate configuration change.

Step 3 : An on-site technician will replace the fiber connecting our network equipment to the network equipment of our upstream provider, Psychz Networks.

We expect step 1 to be very likely to resolve the link flapping problem and we expect the probability to have to reach step 3 to be extremely low. In an exceptionally unlikely case where the problem persists after these steps are completed, we may be required to replace a switch.

We expect each step to cause a momentary network downtime lasting between a couple seconds to few minutes.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this maintenance may cause you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
